Think about an aspect of your life you'd like to be different, or improved, then define the barriers and challenges to meeting your goal.
That first step of noticing "what is" in detail, is already part of mindful discipline. You have to be willing to notice not only strengths, but weaknesses. There are usually problems with the possibilities. The lack of an honest willingness to notice your own human frailty can stand in the way of practicing mindfulness.
One thing people learn through the discipline of mindfulness is that you have to be willing to be weak to become strong. Failures cease to be things to avoid, and become expected facts of life to accept and learn from. The discipline of breaking down barriers to honest awareness IS mindfulness.
